The decision to become a Super User is one you should delve straight into. Theres little point in having the worlds most powerful operating system, and not
investigating its possibilities. The main thing here is that you should try to build up your self sufficiency. This involves reading and rereading documentation, and asking for help only when you have exhausted your own resources. A Super User should also know the possible damage he could cause by editing config files, or by playing with configuration utilities. The upside to this is that a proficient Super User will be able to recompile the kernel (The Holy Grail of aspiring guru's), reconfigure Lilo, add hardware devices, and compile programs that don't do so well with a simple 'make' command.

These are just a few of things I have planned here. Above all, before trying any of these new sections coming up, you should be comfortable with X, with the console,and with the basic commands. You should also read the doc on the left about uncompressing tgz files. The knowledge base you need to start off will be quite small, and will grow from there. This is not a small step, but it is not a tedious one. Along the way you'll find interesting quirks and nice tricks with the Linux OS, and by all means, if you have any to share, eMail me at the below address and I'll add them in the BLG, with full credit given of course.
